Having nothing except super bland food in the apocalypse will get depressing faster than you would think. Sure, canned chicken & boiled rice will help keep you alive, but there's a reason our ancestors traveled the globe looking for Spices.
Is there really an argument against having spices in your food storage? They're not terribly expensive, they last a long time, and generally they don't take up a lot of space.
Additionally, for those of you that fancy yourselves to have a green thumb, growing your own herb garden is also a simple and effective way to ensure you're not eating bland food while the grid is town.
